Combined Medical
and Security Services

One response team for health and security abroad

Integrated response when it matters most

During overseas incidents, medical and security risks often intersect. A combined medical and security approach brings these disciplines together within a single, coordinated framework, helping organisations manage complex situations with clarity and confidence.

Integrated response pathways align medical support and security assistance under shared protocols, reducing fragmentation and delay. By unifying information, escalation, and coordination, organisations gain a clearer picture of unfolding situations and can respond more effectively when time and accuracy matter most.

LogoPre-Travel Health & Security Planning

Before deployment or travel, we advise on necessary medical precautions (vaccinations, prescriptions, health checks) and security measures. We can facilitate medical screenings and travel health briefings as part of the overall pre-trip preparation. If any travellers have unique medical needs or concerns, those are flagged in our system so our team is aware throughout the trip.

While abroad, travellers are monitored by a joint assistance team. Our 24/7 operations centre has both security professionals and medical coordinators available. If a traveller contacts us, we assess the situation from both angles: for example, if someone falls ill in a region with civil unrest, we simultaneously evaluate the medical urgency and the security of evacuation routes.

Travellers have one number or app to reach out for any type of emergency. They don’t need to decide whether their problem is “medical” or “security” – we handle it all. Whether it’s a roadside accident, a sudden illness, or getting caught in a riot, the call for help goes to the same dedicated team who will coordinate the appropriate response.

If evacuation is needed, our combined service shines. For example, if a traveller suffers a serious injury in a remote location, our team will arrange for medical evacuation (ambulance, airlift, hospital admission) while concurrently ensuring security – this might mean sending a security escort if the area is unstable or managing safe passage through airport checkpoints. All logistics, from hospital selection to secure transport, are handled in a streamlined plan so that no time is lost and no one is put at undue risk.

After an incident, we manage the case from start to finish. Security and medical staff confer daily to support the individual’s recovery and safety. When they’re fit to travel, we handle repatriation back home (with medical staff on the flight if needed and security arrangements on arrival if, say, media attention or other concerns await them).

A global network of care and protection

ASRM works with established medical providers and security partners across a broad international footprint, enabling access to coordinated support in a wide range of locations. This integrated model brings together medical and security considerations under shared frameworks, supporting proportionate response across both routine issues and more complex situations.

By aligning medical support and security assistance through defined protocols and escalation pathways, organisations benefit from clearer coordination and reduced friction during incidents — helping people receive appropriate support while maintaining oversight and governance.
