Emergency Evacuation and Extraction
Prepared exits for when situations deteriorate
Prepared today for tomorrow’s emergencies
In certain circumstances, relocation or withdrawal becomes a necessary risk mitigation decision. Emergency evacuation capability supports organisations in preparing for, assessing, and coordinating exit options when conditions deteriorate due to security, political, or environmental factors.
Evacuation planning focuses on advance preparation: defining thresholds, mapping routes, identifying contingencies, and establishing escalation frameworks. When risk indicators exceed agreed tolerances, structured coordination supports timely decision-making and engagement with appropriate response capabilities – without relying on improvisation under pressure.
What is a Security Evacuation?
A security evacuation refers to the planned relocation of personnel from an area experiencing elevated or rapidly escalating risk to a safer location. Unlike medical evacuations, which are driven by injury or illness, security evacuations are prompted by external threats such as political instability, civil unrest, infrastructure failure, or environmental disruption.
Effective evacuation outcomes depend on preparation rather than reaction. Clear thresholds, pre-defined options, and coordinated escalation help organisations assess when movement is necessary and how it should be managed, particularly before conditions restrict mobility or access.
Trigger Monitoring
We keep a close watch on security indicators and define clear evacuation triggers with you in advance. For example, if a political crisis intensifies to a certain point (curfews imposed, armed clashes in the capital, airport closures imminent), that pre-agreed trigger will initiate evacuation procedures. This avoids dangerous delays caused by hesitation or uncertainty.
Pre-Evacuation Planning
Long before any incident, we craft detailed evacuation plans for your sites and people. These plans include designated assembly points (safe locations where personnel should gather), primary and secondary evacuation routes, transportation options (secure convoys, charter aircraft, ships, etc.), and necessary documentation/permissions. We also coordinate quietly with local partners and authorities in advance, so that if we must act, everyone relevant is on standby.
Execution of Evacuation
Execution of Evacuation Once we call an evacuation, ASRM’s crisis response team swings into action. If on-ground security teams are protecting your staff, they shift to evacuation mode – escorting personnel to the assembly point. Depending on the scenario, we might deploy armoured vehicles or helicopters for extraction, or guide an overland escape to a neighbouring country. Simultaneously, our ops centre secures travel clearances, arranges charter flights or safe ground transport, and maintains communication with all parties. Throughout the extraction, we account for every person: checklists and trackers ensure no one is left behind or lost in transit.
Post-Evacuation Support
Post-Evacuation Support We don’t consider the mission complete until your people are fully out of harm’s way and in a place of safety. After reaching a secure location (which could be a neighbouring country or back home, depending on the plan), we assist with immediate needs: medical checkups, connecting evacuees with family or corporate leadership, and psychological support if needed. We also review what happened to improve future plans and, if requested, help with the controlled restart of operations when the situation stabilises.
Evacuations built on discipline, clarity, and care
In high-risk relocations, clarity of information and disciplined decision-making are critical. Evacuation frameworks emphasise structured communication, verified intelligence, and clear escalation pathways to reduce confusion and support proportionate action under pressure.
A preparedness-led approach prioritises governance, accountability, and respect for those affected. By focusing on clear roles, reliable information, and calm coordination, organisations are better equipped to manage complex evacuation decisions with care, dignity, and control – even in highly volatile environments.
